What to say when someone calls you being fat?

Start

It can be hurtful and damaging when someone makes a comment about your weight, especially if it is done in a mocking or derogatory way. If someone calls you fat, it is important to remember that you have the right to feel respected and valued, no matter what your size or shape. Here are a few things you could say in response to someone calling you fat:

  • “I don’t appreciate being spoken to in that way. Please respect my feelings and do not make comments about my weight.”
  • “It’s not kind or helpful to make comments about someone’s weight. Please stop.”
  • “Your words are hurtful and they are not welcome. I expect to be treated with respect, regardless of my size.”
  • “I am comfortable and happy with my body, and I do not appreciate being made to feel ashamed or self-conscious about it.”

It is also important to remember that you do not have to engage with or respond to someone who is being hurtful or disrespectful. You have the right to walk away from the conversation or to remove yourself from the situation if it makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe. It is okay to set boundaries and to prioritize your own well-being.
