Formjacking is basically a virtual ATM skimming method, where cyber attackers inject a malicious code into the retail websites to steal the customers’ card details. The threat landscape of cyber security is increasing at a rapid rate. Therefore, it is important for organizations to invest in security and ensure they are always prepared for whatever may come. A report states, “Formjacking attacks are simple – essentially virtual ATM skimming – where cyber criminals inject a malicious code into retailers’ websites to steal shoppers’ payment card details.”
Symantec data shows that 4,818 unique websites were compromised with formjacking code every month in 2018. With data from a single credit card being sold for up to 45 dollars on underground markets, just 10 credit cards stolen from compromised websites could result in a yield off up to 2.2 dollars million for cyber criminals each month.
