A recent hack in the Hulbert Public School’s bank account has insisted officials to reorganize security measures, after a person made an illegal transaction in December. The hacker who made the transaction hasn’t been recognized yet, but Dr. Marilyn Dewoody said the school was able to control all the funds that went missing from its checking account.
“We’ve always had a very good relationship with our local bank (Bank of Cherokee county) and they, of course, were immediately on it. When the school account was hacked, they handled all of that, and we’ve changed all our account numbers and everything, so we’ve taken care of the issue.” Said Dewoody.
HPS also gave a warning to its staff and faculty to avoid using personal banking accounts while on a school computer, since Dewoody’s personal account was hacked on Sunday.
