A study shows that the American majority fear that their personal information would be misused and get into the wrong hands. They consider cybercrime as a big threat to the world. The Americans that were surveyed by ESET were tense about the personal data provided to websites when doing online shopping or banking would be misused.
The respondents thought cybercrime was a more vital challenge than money laundering or drug trafficking issues. What was even stranger was the discovery that less than half of the Americans who were surveyed thought that a lot is being done by the law enforcement and other authorities when it came to fighting cybercrime.
The ESET Cybersecurity barometer was a survey that was created to operate the public’s reaction towards data privacy, cybersecurity, and cybercrime. This survey has a series of questions that are equivalent with the surveys conducted in the European commission of EU.
