Fuchun Boat Rooms
By Srinka Datta Roy

“Rivers run through our history and folklore, and link us as a people.” American journalist Charles Kuralt’s words seem to come especially true when you visit the Fuchun River in eastern China. Amidst tranquil lakes and lush green mountains, this region is perfect for a relaxing holiday.

Interested in local history? Then the Fuchun Boat Rooms, part of the Fuchun New Century Wonderland Resort, are just the place for your next vacation. Drawing on the ancient tradition of boat-living, the Design Institute of Landscape and Architecture China Academy of Art designed five ‘boat rooms’ on the bank of a lake in the resort. Built primarily of glass and wood, these ‘floating rooms’ give you the feeling of drifting down the river. An arched facade mimicking a boat’s bow, a huge skylight and French-styled doors leading to a large deck only serve to enhance the experience of ‘living on the water’.

So are you ready for a unique living experience? See you there!
