Flaws In U.S. Voter Machine Exposed By Hackers

Hackers have warned about the serious risks that the voting machines were posing to the U.S. security. According to a report, just weeks before the U.S. mid-term elections major faults were discovered in the voting hardware. A warning was given by an expert that if the UK uses electronic voting systems then learning of lessons would be required. A “Voting Village” was held at the Def Con conference in Las Vegas in August. Here, the participants were motivated to find faults in the infrastructure of the US election by hacking into various computer systems. A fifty-page report consisting of the findings was released by the organizers of the conference. The report claims, “The problems outlined in this report are not simply election administration flaws that need to be fixed for efficiency’s sake, but rather serious risks to our critical infrastructure and thus national security. The number and seriousness of the faults present in the voting equipment were described as “staggering.”
