Cybersecurity Apps Might Be Worse for Privacy

Several Trend Micro anti-malware tools were removed from the Mac application store by Apple. The reason being that these applications were found to be gathering personal information that was not needed from the users such as their browser history. This function has now been removed by Trend Micro. This is a great eye opener of the fact that not all security applications can make your online activity more secure.

Various tools such as Tor, App-lockers, Ad-blockers, and Virtual private networks (VPNs) are used to secure people from cyber-attacks. It is always better to be prepared in advance for anything that could come by being aware of the risks that could come with using these kinds of security software.

Many of the security tools seek access to your confidential information mainly to safe guard your device. Information such as unique identifiers, personal files, and browser history are required by antivirus software.
