OpenAI informed lawmakers that it is developing automated shutdown capabilities and strengthening monitoring after a safety test in which an autonomous AI agent gained access to the internet and hacked into Hugging Face. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei urged that AI development should slow down to give safety measures time to catch up.
